So its 2014!!!

It feels like its been forever since I blogged ... oh wait it's 2014 and the last time I blogged was 2013 so it has been forever since I blogged. Happy New Year!! I feel like the boy who cried wolf when it comes to keeping my promises about blogging, so given my poor inability to keep my promises regarding blogging I am not going to give you guys the old speech of “I promise I am going to blog more this year” however, I am going to TRY to write more.  So, lets address the big elephant in the room, yes I am talking about New Years Resolution! if I said I did not have one I’d be lying. I am no different from anyone else out there so, like all the ordinary people who took it upon themselves to set new goals for 2014 so did I. Given that it is 2014, this is my 2014 manifesto: 1. I just came from listening to probably the least uninterested lecture ever!! by the amazing Senator Romeo Dallair.  I've read all of his books, and I have to say meeting the man who has inspired  me was just amazing!!! He talked a lot of the issue with atrocities, why it keep happening, and the lack of preventable actions. Among the things that really stood out for me was his argument that democracy does not happen within a period of time, but it requires time not 8 years, but maybe 80 years or even more. This really stood to me because we have the tendency of thinking that democracy can be imposed in nations where it has never existed. When in reality it has to start slowly with having institutions that advocates, and allows for discourse about democracy. Another point that he spoke about was the issue of unsustainable method of preventing atrocities. He argues that its about sustainable way of thinking, rather than thinking about the short term what's needed...
